Sofia Volturi

Sofia Carlotta is the daughter of Valentine and Valentina Carlotta. She was born on 23/12/98 at 00:15, in Volterra, Tuscany (Italy), 5 minutes after her triplet, Giovanni Carlotta (now Volturi), and 10 minutes before Gabriella. She has lived in Volterra all her life.

Before Sofia was born, Felix Volturi’s sister, Charlene Volturi, made a deal with the Greek god, Zeus. Zeus seduced Charlene and promised that her older brother would survive the Trojan War and the voyage back home. He fulfilled that promise but at the cost of both their souls. Aro was sent in their paths, and he was the one who transformed the siblings into vampires. Now they are eternally bound to the Volturi and cannot leave.

She is currently 20 years old.

Her father - Valentine - was the local doctor, highly praised and adored by all. However, he was turned shortly after Sofia, Gabi, & Alex were conceived. Gabriella was given up for adoption at a year old, as the young couple was unprepared for triplets. Her mother – Valentina - was a former Volturi secretary, ‘dying’ in 2011. Her childhood was great until her mother unexpectedly ‘died’ when she was young. After, Valentine became abusive towards Sofia, taking out all his frustrations on her as the Volturi took away his only punching bag.

Sofia was the victim of a narcissistic family dynamic. Growing up, she was seen as an extension of Valentine, rather than his child. This forced her to grow up faster than her brother. Her childhood was traumatic, to the point where she refuses to speak about it.

At the age of 18, Sofia left for to study at University. In her first year, she met Alejandro, and quickly they kindled a flame. He slowly revealed his true colours as an abuser and narcissist: forcing himself upon her, gaslighting, physical abuse, humiliation, along with alcohol and cheating.

When she finally had enough and tried to leave him. He began to stalk and harass her, eventually forcing another relationship with her. Every time she tried to leave, he would always follow her, threatening her that if she leaves, he will commit suicide.

She felt trapped and defenceless.

She had her suspicions about her father, and now brother, and the castle she grew up near, but after overhearing a conversation between her father and brother, she learned about the Volturi, the vampire coven living in the castle a couple of minutes' walk from her home. That was when she had discovered her father and brother were indeed vampires.

Sofia booked two tickets for a tour for the upcoming St. Marcus Day celebrations. When the time had come to join the tour, Sofia had slipped away into the crowd, leaving Alejandro no choice but to go in without her.
The tours always had perfect attendance, so when it came to the headcount, one was missing. After going through who had been on the tour, Alejandro had told Heidi that Sofia was nowhere to be found, and to continue the tour without her.
Heidi had alerted the relevant officials of Sofia’s absence, who had alerted the three Volturi Kings. Although it could have been completely harmless, Aro had Demetri and Felix track Sofia down the next day.

Sofia was brought to Volterra castle and was offered the secretary job (as the last had been...fired). She was known to the Volturi already because of her vampire relatives and her mother’s employment, so Aro decided to hire her as the human secretary. Due to this, she had to leave her education midway and she became a ‘missing person’.

After settling into her new job, she found herself interested in a certain Volturi guard - former husband and patriarch, Carlisle Volturi. They soon developed a friendship, but Sofia found herself smitten with him. Her feelings were unrequited. His heart belonged to Violetta, Aro's daughter.

After realising she had no chance with Carlisle, Sofia distracted herself by striking up an affair with Aro.

Meanwhile, she grew close to Felix, despite their on/off situationship.

However, she was still close to Carlisle, and despite Violetta's clear resentment for the friendship, Carlisle found himself defending Sofia, causing a strain to the relationship.

Sofia fell pregnant with Felix’s hybrid child. At first, she wasn’t sure who the father was: she had affairs with both Felix and Aro. But the child’s father was confirmed to be Felix after Marcus confirmed the connection, and Aro verified it.

Carlisle was her primary doctor and monitored her throughout her pregnancy. He was equipped with the knowledge of Bella’s hybrid pregnancy, so he was able to successfully deliver the child without much harm coming to Sofia. The child was delivered prematurely through a c-section. He was named Odysseus Volturi (“Cade”). Because Sofia was still human, Odysseus (being a venomous hybrid) was kept away from her until he was able to control his biting.

Not soon after, Violetta ordered Sofia’s death which caused the girl to go on the run. She managed to run for two weeks, but she was soon caught by her assassin: Carlisle Volturi. He slit her throat and left her to bleed out in the Windermere peaks in the UK.

The Duval brothers found her and turned her. She resided with the Windermere coven. There she was taught how to control her bloodlust.

She returned to Volterra on the 16th December that year: Carlisle and Violetta’s wedding day. There she revealed her transformation and outed Carlisle’s incompetence and betrayal. She then left with the Windermere coven and returned to the Volturi the 25th December.

She spent her time training with Santiago and spending time with her son. In the first week of January, she rekindled an old flame with Felix and they both agreed to become exclusive.
